Welcome to Bridge House School

Bridge House School is an Independent Special School for young people with autistic spectrum conditions aged 11-18 years old. We are located in Bredbury, Stockport and benefit from outdoor space where we develop our outdoor and horticulture skills. We even want to grow our own vegetables which we then use in our cooking lessons and gain our BTEC in cooking skills.

Our school specialism is creativity and every young person at Bridge House achieves an Arts Award. We are also completing our Arts Mark and we are aiming to become a platinum school!

Our Vision

Our vision is to help children and young people to develop their social, independence and education skills so they can fulfil their aspirations and potential.

Bridge House School offers a range of bespoke high quality educational care for young people within a safe and homely environment and has been specifically designed to support individuals in leading active and independent lives.

We empower and inspire young people to make the right choices in pursuit of their passion and happiness, through a broad and bespoke curriculum.

With dedicated staff, a unique approach and purpose-built facilities; we provide a supportive, safe and happy environment where all young people make progress regardless of ability level.

Curriculum

Bridge House School curriculum is creative, individualised and flexible, tailored to the complex learning needs of the individual pupil and enabling those needs to be met. It supports our vision by giving pupils the opportunity to learn and develop in a supportive and creative environment in which there is a focus on recognising achievement and supporting progression.

In addition to the academic curriculum, individualised timetables provide opportunities for pupils to withdraw from some lessons to participate in therapy sessions. The curriculum is enriched by educational trips and visits, local community links and opportunities within the timetable to engage with new experiences such as music workshops, gardening and educational visits.

Visual Timetable

Our focus on the Creative Curriculum has developed an innovative approach to the way we meet the special and often challenging needs of pupils. Our ‘Visual Timetable’ is typical of this approach, created to ensure pupils understand their daily routines

Our Environment

Bridge House School provides the best physical environment for the special education needs of pupils.

Our newly refurbished building with specialist facilities provides a spacious, calm and safe environment in which young people can thrive and learn. Such facilities fully support our creative learning curriculum and a “Total Communication” approach to education. We utilise various communications systems which is led by our SENCo and Speech and Language Therapists.

State-of-the-art classrooms and specialist facilities

Classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art education technology such as interactive touch screens which you would expect to find in any modern school.

Many of our specialist facilities support the sensory diet requirements of pupils, that is, sight, sound, touch and smell to develop their senses, co-ordination and communication, promoting interaction, concentration, calmness and confidence.

Sensory Integration Room

Designed to stimulate and support the children’s sensory needs and motor skills. The young people can use the equipment to manage their own arousal levels and our multi-use sports hall provides a large space for a variety of activities, games and therapy, this environment provides an area for the young people to interact with their peers.

Life skills room

Pupils are supported to develop independent living skills including cooking in a home style setting, cleaning and washing up.

Music room

We have a fully stocked music room to allow pupil to develop their musical creativity.

Children at School

I can't thank you all enough.

"I can not recommend Bridge House School enough. They have been amazing from the first meeting to helping my child transition. The staff go above and beyond to help the pupils and parents, they truly care and want to help however they can.  After only a few short weeks my child is happy, settled and for the first time since starting high school, looks forward to going.  I can’t thank you all enough."
